The End!

After a long, hard journey….WE FINALLY MADE IT!!!!!!! We’re all so glad to actually be here and the shrine is absolutely beautiful! Everyone’s bad moods have gone away mainly because we finally get to rest from riding our horses. The cathedral where the shrine is located is stunning. So much architecture and design was put into it. Just seeing it is breathtaking. All of the pilgrims acted very respectful towards the shrine of the honored and famous Thomas Becket that was murdered there. We all paid our respects and discussed among each other this remarkable religious journey that we’ve all accomplished. Well I better rap this up because we will be heading back to the Tabard Inn soon. Oh how I’m not looking forward to this long ride home with these people..I’ve enjoyed expressing my feelings about this journey and the shrine. However, I must be on my way. Until next time… xoxo The Knight

The Creature

It has been a long, rough journey for everyone thus far. We have been riding most of the day and the night was creeping over the horizon. One of the pilgrims up ahead suggested we set up camp for the night. I jumped off my horse to unsaddle. My son groomed the horses as I began to set up a small fire to cook a bite to eat. He sat down next to me as I began to cook the meat. I broke off a piece of bread and handed it to him. “Father,” he said to me, “When will I become a knight?” he asked. “Sooner than you think.” I replied. After eating I laid my head back, and fell asleep. I woke up hours later, the moon still glowing bright in the sky. The horses seemed to be terribly frightened by something in the woods. I stood up very slowly and tried to calm them. I peered into the dark nothingness of the woods. I could hear stiff branches breaking and leaves rustling. It was moving closer at a surprising rate. I stepped back, not taking my eyes off the woods. “Son, wake up!” I whispered loudly. The noise was at the edge of the woods now, moving fast. “Son!” I yelled. He woke up and stared at me. “My sword, get my sword!” The boy jumped to his feet and ran for the sword. Just then, the beast bounded from the woods and attacked me, I landed on my back as the creature roared. The pilgrims all began to wake up. “It’s a bear!” Some one screamed. “Son! Help!” The boy ran to my assistance with the sword he could barely raise and sliced the beast on the back. It groaned and roared, and went for my son. Though injured, I got to my feet and ran after the great monster. As it lunged towards my son grabbed the dagger from my boot and brought the demon down, just in time.

Shy Priests

Well, we are nearing the end of our journey. Our guide says that it won't be more than a few more hours or so. A noticed something quite peculiar today. The nun had a few priests with her. They sort of kept to themselves the whole journey. I found it weird that they were this shy for being priests. Not to mention the fact they none of them had a tale to tell. They wondered up to me while I was getting something to eat. I also found it odd that they traveled in a group no matter where they went. Anyway, all they wanted was to thank me for accompanying them on the journey. I think they were saying this to everyone who was on the journey. I could not tell if they were being sincere, or if it was just an act so they could pretend they were really "Holy men." I thanked them as well, cause I would not think of being rude to the men of God. They all hurried away in a rushed fashion. I went back to my food in hopes of ending the ongoing roar of my stomach. I had a feeling that this was the last encounter I would have with priest I had barely known.

The Merchant's Money

The Merchant tells me he can teach me many things about dealing with money. He told me that he is an expert about all things that have to do with buying and selling, which is what you would think about a man in a profession such as his. However, when I got the chance to talk to him about this more, it seems to me that he is a fake. I have determined that while the Merchant talks a lot about his success, he is actually very much in debt. It appears to me that he has a problem holding onto his money after he earns it and he only wanted to talk to me to see if I had any money he could borrow. This trip is definitely teaching me a lot about people.

The Dagger

On our ride, we came into a small town. The town was filled with many people. Children stopped playing in the street to watch us ride by. I got off my horse and held him steady so that the children could pet him. They soon lost interest and ran off giggling. I continued walking through the town. I decided to enter one of the surrounding shops. The small shop contained many articles of clothing and attire. On a table towards the back, there lay a number of daggers. One particular dagger caught my eye. I picked it up and examined it. It was a small weapon, but looked as though it could be very deadly. It had a highly decorative handle made of silver. The sunlight snuck through the window and slid over the blade, the gleam of light put me in a trans for a short while. I turned to the storeowner and purchased the souvenir. Perhaps some day it will save my life...

Ratting Out The Reeve..

Today I noticed the Reeve getting angry with some of the other pilgrims. He is very old, skinny, and obviously bad-tempered. His legs were like little twigs beside his horse’s saddle. Some of the others sort of find him intimidating because he’s entirely too proper in his body language and appearance. He was getting frustrated with the Nun’s horse not walking straightforward consistently. A little bit later, I overheard the Reeve talking to the Miller about money, of course. It’s hard to not listen in on some of these interesting conversations considering that it is such a long journey. I accidentally heard something that probably wasn’t meant for my ears to hear. However, I feel safe letting out my secrets on here. The Reeve is secretly very rich. Hmm..I wonder what else these people are hiding…
